Is John the Baptist the Messiah?

There's this resurrection, corigma of John the Baptist where there's a John the Baptist is raised from the dead and that's why miraculous powers are working them. And then what about these weird bits where Jesus tells the disciples to everybody got a sword here because you're going to need it soon.
