The Fed Can't React to a Stock Market Crash
The fed saved the market after the 87 crash and also put in a bottom in the bond market bigaust. When stocks tanked on that monday, bonds went the other way. We had positive real interust rats in 19 87 when the stock market crashed, not negative real interest rats like we have now. But of course, i think if we do get a stock market crash, that will scare the hell out of jerome pal it will also scare the hellout of a lot of politicians,. especially the ones that are up for re election.
