The problem with low abstractions is they lack concrete embodiment. Merce eliad, he's a great historian of religions, and he was cognizant of nici's proclamation that god had died. And eliad knew what that meant and what the consequences would be. The christian imagination addressed that problem by taking that abstraction and making it incarnate in a particular time and place. It pulls the story down to earth, and it makes it much more compelling.
