Gary becker is one of the most influential economists of the last 50 years and he since passed away but was a real mentor to me. At that time i think it must have been seven or ten years since someone who had a lot of options had chosen to go to chicago economics over another place including the ch Chicago business school. One of my advisors at harvard said if you do that  it shows that you are so effing stupid that you're not worth me wasting my breath. But I'm still not very good at the kind of deep thinking that is done in chChicago economics and i love it and i think it's powerfulbut i'm still more of a spectator
