The Power of Books to Change the Course of Events

I think the best meta fictional works, especially re or thinking about stories, ability to kind of change the course of events. I have it, like, one of my biggest fears is that, through some kind of misunderstanding and mistake of my own, i will just get in trouble with the law and go to jail. But your atonement is a great example also. Not to give too much away, but it's also about art and literature being a space in which we can fantasize about the ways in which things may have gone differently. You know, an author has control over what happens after these incidents, when things spin out.
