The story does get judgy about it though. It's not that peter was great at gambling, but he just had so much money that matter his hand, he could always outbet everyone. The man he envied so much that he would structure one of his five wishes around was losing to him in cards. He didn't realize how paradoxical it was that he would choose to take all the money of the man whose money he always had the exact amount of until he slid all his winnings into his pocket.
