Is Thomas's Teaching More Like That of the Reformers?
Thomas's teaching on justification in many ways resembles the teaching of the Reformers. He too regards the movement as God's grace as necessary for any possibility of relief from original sin, and he too sees human beings as being given a gift while not making themselves worthy of salvation. The problem here is that in erasing free will completely, Luther and Calvin somehow are forced to erase a part of their nature without which Thomas at least says that the whole law would be in vain.
