LLVM IR and JavaScript
MScripten was based on this very simple observation that if you look at the LLVM IR, so LLVM is lower language virtual machine. And suddenly you can compile C to LLVM IR and then transpilate the JavaScript and then run it in the browser. It just went super viral because for the first time we could run Python and Ruby and Lua and a few other languages in JavaScript. I came to from Amman, Jordan to New York in 2012 to work at Code Academy where we used this technology and scaled it to millions of people. The company sold for half a billion dollars last year.
