The History of Rubber

This is in Cephalatus, Alton Steinii. It's usually cited as the oldest glass house plant in the world. I like it because its age makes you realise how insignificant people are. Some of the most intriguing moments for me have been those related to common commodities that we now use and realising they are linked back through to Q. What links lettuce, car tyres, dandelions and a smuggled consignment of 70,000 tree seeds? The answer is: rubber. Not many discoveries can genuinely be said to have changed the world. This one did.
