The city is a crucible for human activity. It's something that we talk about a lot in our classes. And I mean, that kind of gets into the more theoretical answer to your question. The fundamental tendency of world history, at least for the last 500 years, has been urbanization. There is no longer almost any identifiable place on earth that cannot be argued to be urban in one way or another.
