Theory & Philosophy

The Absurdities of Capitalism

In the preface, engles muses about why all commodities are sold for above their value. He asks how do cap lists agree upon a certain degree of excess that they are going to take out of labor? And it must correspond to a general degree of profit taking, because otherwise the capitalist couldn't be competitive. So he doesn't answer these questions here, but he uses them to set the stage for what marks will really be focusing on throughout the course of this book. You cannot understand what mark is getting at in capital volume one unless you've read vol two and vol three.
