The Problem With Monopoly as a Game
If Monopoly were constructed to be a model of capitalism, the cost of landing on another player's property would actually decrease as you had more houses. The real problem with Monopoly as a game is that it's based on the notion of a fixed pie. Every time a person rolls doubles instead of taking an additional turn, you should add a new square to the board to simulate the increase in resources from random technological advances.
