The Importance of Absolute Monarchy

There are good arguments to be made that absolute monarchy was a genuine improvement over the old feudal system. Absolut monarchies also tended to be better at marshalling and directing a country's resources. Countries with weak monarchs and strong nobility tended to stagnate or even disappear entirely, swallowed up by more powerful rivals.
