Duration of Device Based Fever Prevention After Cardiac Arrest
The 2022 European guidelines recommend active fever prevention for 72 hours in comatose post cardiac arrest patients. AHA guidelines say it's reasonable to actively prevent fever, but they acknowledge the lack of evidence to support a specific duration. The theory behind the fever prevention is to limit reperfusion injury and reduce hypoxic ischemic brain injury.
