In your book you depicted a really interesting exercise where Marcus was looking into a mirror and imagining the emperors that came before him. Why why would he do such an exercise near the end of his life? The Stoics view it as a trick for it to encourage us to be more grateful for the for life from moment to moment so that we don't lapse into taking life too much for granted.
