The Ancient Silk Road

The term Silk Road actually is a very recent invention. Ferdinand van Richtofen, when he visited China's northwestern region, coined the term Silk Road to describe the various trade routes that connected China to Europe in the ancient times. So these are not new. What I've actually seen is like 2000s iteration of globalization or having many, many iterations of globalization that had gone before us. Like Silk Road is just more like a concept to describe this ancient linkages that link China whether via land or via sea to other civilization centers of the world.
