As of December 2016, there were 1.15 billion mobile daily active users on Facebook's platforms. That number shoots even further through the roof if you include Instagram, which is also hugely popular. Mobile traffic is a huge part of Facebook's operation nowadays because originally it was desktop and it was only for certain universities or colleges. Now anyone can get on it provided they have the right equipment and internet connection.
