The Power of Private Interests in Control of the Speech Environment
I think that, you know, one example of this that people are talking about a lot lately is the control over the speech environment. I don't know if you saw the documentary, the social dilemma. It puts a fine point on the way that the private management of this public space of conversation and information exchange has distorted that space of information exchange. We want now, Twitter and Facebook to curate the speech on their platform, which is to say to exercise a kind of a power that we have never really asked private parties to exercise before.
