"It's not implausible to think that these companies are actually destroying a little bit of value with their clean energy efforts," he says. "I would argue without hopefully offending too many people that divestment from fossil fuels doesn't make sense." Shell should spin off its clean energy unit because it is higher growth and more politically palatable, the analyst adds.
