A New Covenant in a Falling World
God tells abram to get a bunch of animals and cut them in half. The idea is that if we break this agreement tha we made, may it happen to us. God himself becomes a partner in this covenant. He's cutting the covenant with with abraham. And then that marvellous theme of covenant runs right through the whole scripture. To walk with god is effortless but see, i'm a sinner. I live in a sinful world,. so getting myself on line with god will always involve pain.
