Is Marx Saying That the Capitalist Mode of Production Was Not Dominant?

It's a historical argument. There's a point where the capitalist mode of production was not dominant. And then before then, social relations looked different,. They're mediated and expressed on a different economic basis. The spectacle is administered by the bourgeois. It seems to us it's just there for itself. It's objective and we're involved in it, but only as spectators because there's a one-way relationship we can't eat.
