Sequestration in Monarchs
I want to circle back to this idea of sequestration. And maybe let's talk about that in monarchs in a minute. But do the flies that you engineered, do they sequester the stuff now, or is that a separate set of processes? The flies that we reared on diets that had cardiac lifeicides did in fact have small levels of cardiac lifeicides in the adult form. They were fed it as a larva. I believe like all insects that undergo metamorphosis, they empty their gut before they undergoing metamorphosis. So it's not residual stuff left in their stomach. When they emerge from grub to fly, they emerge, and we still find cardiac life
