Theo and Theo's Last Letters to the Sisters

In a letter to his wife, joanna, from a day after the funeral, theo writes: fortunately he was still alive when i reached auvert and i didn't leave his side until it was all over. One of his last words was, this is how i wanted to go. The two doctors were marvellous. Doctor guchet had summoned the village doctor because he didn't trust himself. Afterwards, he scarcely left me alone for a moment and was extremely kind. He is buried in a sunny spot among the wheat fields. And the churchyard it hasn't the unpleasantness of parisian churchyards. But oh, how empty it is everywhere. I miss him so
