Is Sociology Too Epistemological?
Sociology is too epistemological. It asks the question of how we know what we know, and especially when it comes to the how. There's a pretence to pure description, pure objective description from like god's eye view. The other one is this scepticism that we can never really know the world. We are confining ourselves to sort of psychological explanations of systems. These are the two sides of subjective idealism - which is also why it's interesting to look to the conceptual resources developed in the wake of kant’s work.
