Feldman points out that the widespread practice of castrading boys in italy happens right around the time that a patrilony becomes the law and custom of the italian peninsula. And then you're left with younger children who are never going to get married, just being sent off to nonoris or sons in the priesthood. But then this particular wrinkle, because cannot people start figuring out that when you have a very musically talented child, and you arrest their physical development, or not arrest it, but transform it. You are given this like transformation. Then you end up at a specialized academy, just like doctor x's academy, a specialized academy sheltered from the rest of the world.
