Recalling the Past From the Present

Sometimes when we recall memory, we have autobiographical memory. You're reacting as if it's right now, but really the memory was in the past. And this is why recognizing and differentiating the past from the present is helpful. It isn't helpful to use denial as a coping strategy. The primary part of the brain that's responsible for memory is what we call the hippocampus.
