The atom is in a direction, if I understand right, that you're referring to. Yet, heroku and all similar services never really became a massive thing. So what's missing there? I think scalability. The experience just doesn't scale. And that's why heroku, if you look at the business, they have a natural ceiling on their head. They have an adverse selection bias. Most successful of their customers will move out of heroku because they will, at the end of the day, need to manage the complexity which is part and parcel of product development in modern age.
