Is It Problematic to Remove Public Religion From the Foundations of Conservative Philosophy?

Hasoni wants to ensure that political thought is grounded in something higher than just experience and empirical, you know, being persuaded by history. And for Hasoni, that's obviously the God of the Scriptures. If you take God out of the picture of conservative philosophy, you don't have an anchor outside of history, and so it becomes historically relativist. So I'm not excluding the non-religious, the non-believer from the conservative tradition. But I do wonder whether actually most conservatives would agree that it would be problematic to remove public religion.
