I just read a book called reader come home by Marianne Wolfe who talks about the death of reading and how that actually has a moral impact on us. I'm hoping to get her on the podcast because there's some structural reasons why we are losing our ability to send ourselves to authority. Some of it is really is because the Bible is text it is we have to read it and bring ourselves as readers into that story. It's a deep kind of reading. And it does seem like one of the things we need to recover if we are going to be people under the right kind of authority with Scripture.
Our good friend and partner in The After Party project, Russell Moore, joins us to talk about his new book, “Losing Our Religion: An Altar Call for Evangelical America.” Curtis and Russell talk about why “mapping” our loss is critical for those who currently feel culturally, politically, or spiritually homeless. We explore two kinds of maps - the “treasure map” and the “minefield map” - and why Christians need both.
