But it seems from the work that has been done that you can always find some consistent solutions to the behavior matter in the presence of closed time like curves. So at least it opens up the possibility that even though there's not this sort of Laplacian way of doing physics, starting from the conditions right now and just chugging forward in time, there might be a more global way of looking at the entire space time.
