The Flood of Refugees in Delhi
Some half a million Hindus and Sikhs find their way to Delhi, 250 miles southeast of the border of Pakistan. With resources so scarce, people drink water from paddy fields and rely on the occasional airdrop of food. Only weeks earlier, these refugees owned property and businesses. Now, they have a tent on wasteland in a strange city where people speak a different language.
