Introduction
The writer Dubrovka Ugrasic has been living in exile since the Yugoslav Wars of the early 1990s. Her book The Invented Part, translated by Will van der Heiden just won the 2018 Best Translated Book Award. "I was lucky to discover recently that open letter books had been sending their authors this way," she says.
