CHAPTER

The Future of Smell and Taste

lightened sound which travel via electromagnetic waves or pressure waves can traverse very large distances at a very fast rate. Smell and taste require chemicals to bind to receptors either in our nose or on our tongue in order for us to perceive these senses. Chemical information travels very slowly so it's unlikely that this information will be transmitted via airwaves the same way we use light and sound to communicate with others. What's more likely is that in the future we'll be able to use technology to simulate smells tastes and flavors.
