i often find it's the little lives, if you like, that are most interesting any part of the world that is not relentlessly white and male. One of those less well known lives was that of a war surgeon. He didn't operate on soldiers, rather, the victims of wars. From orwanda to yemen to afghanistan, he spent his life in operating theatres in desperate places. When i find people like this, it's as if a bell goes off in my head. And i think that is a really good story.
