The Problem With the Religion of Humanity
Tara, in the essays on religion that changed your life, he talks about this thing called the religion of humanity. He asks if we can channel a more humanistic version of that so that people behaved in religious-like ways but it was directed towards what Claire described as progress. Can you really do both? Tara: It's not totally clear that his religion of humanity solves that because he's saying, let's worship humanity. Humanity is capable of some fairly horrible things also.
