The Importance of Living in the Moment
I had to figure out a way to do what I do without grant, grant money. We're living in a country that doesn't have the same kind of arts protection. The higher calling is, live in the moment. And one must be in this culture where 90,000 people show up for a half ass football game and orchestra is nothing. It's like the Romans said, give them bread and circus. If you have, if they have food,. if they have entertainment, they're not going to think about their situation. They're not pragmatic. He says he only teaches around six or seven hours a week but loves his students.
