The Effects of Epinephrine on Coronary Perfusion

Epinephrine acts on all adrenal receptors with low infusion. It is typically used in post arrest settings, but it can be transitioned to another vasoactive depending on the clinical state. At lower doses, it can reduce diastolic blood pressure due to its beta two adrenergic effect while still increasing systolic blood pressure. This combined with an increased heart rate significantly elevates myocardial oxygen demand - not favorable for patients with cardiogenic shock.
