The Trouble Shooter

i ran into a huge problem playing the instrument around 19 70, going through a divorce and aalow. So i started studying with a teacher here in new york, carmine crusoe. He was known as the trouble shooter. Never played the trumpet, but he taught the trumpet. And he used to tell me, man, it's not the trumpet. The trumpet is just a piece of plumbing. Man, you're the instrument. Doesn't matter what kind of mouthpiece you use or what kind of trumpet you're playing, the sound is inside you. That's who i've always tried to make.
