The old model was no panacea like it was all white guys in every newsroom up until a certain point that's undeniable. Journalists were much more likely to be cast offs from some other profession or you know the sons and daughters of electricians or whatever it was. Their attitude was definitely more patico with ordinary middle class person than then with politicians.
