The Importance of Housing in Britain
Two thirds of people in the UK own their own home either through a mortgage or own it outright. Other European countries have higher renting levels than us. Renting is not seen by many people as a particularly attractive option for a lot of reasons. How could you help people get mortgages to borrow the money that they needed to afford ever increasing house prices? And second of all, just this massive political tension between people who want to build more houses so that you have more supply and people who don't want houses built in the nice places that they live.
