Somerset was the rival to richard, duke of york. His father died at saint albans in 14 55 and he almost inherited his position as margaret of anjou. henry the sixth main supporter. Was in charge of lancastrian army at touton then fled with them to scotland. Although he was temporarily defected to the yorkists,. it quickly became apparent that that wasn't his true allegiance. And so yes, i think once he defected, he tried to raise an army, but was never able to really gain the support that he would have needed to defeat the york and soo...his defeat
