i love this question so much, and i've been kind of alluding to it throughout our talk. So my exercise for this card would be, try to connect to an ancestor, like some one that you're aware of in your line,. Just imagine what their life was like, being dependent on crops, for example. The vast mature majority of our tive ancestors were farmers. That's what most people did until the industrial revolution. And that always helps me. I feel like, i'm allowed to have money worries or what imer. But it just shifts my perception where, if i’m feeling so bereft, i try to imagine, like, what it would be

Real gods require blood.” The Five of Pentacles is not a comfortable card. It speaks of pain and privation, the moments that bring us to our knees. But, as Amanda and her guest Dr. Thea Wirsching discuss in this episode, those moments are also invitations from the real and often blood thirsty gods to wrestle with the angels of our history.

Much of this original research appears in her forthcoming publication, The American Renaissance Tarot (2021). As a Tarot reader, Thea emphasizes the healing power of narrative and the cards’ facility to write a new story.
