The Importance of Computers and Diagnostic Machines
The term scutt is a shortened form of the word scuttwork, which means routine and often menial labor. The oldest reference I found was in the trained nurse and hospital review in 1928. It's actually pretty clear that scuttwork was a commonly known term by American interns at the very least by 1920. And finally, quite interestingly, scuttwork pretty much has the modern definition as early as 1920.
