The Three Principles of Language Acquisition

Luke: When you first understand the message, then you will acquire the language unconsciously. He says focusing on understanding a communicative act means that you just start to acquire ways in which communication is done in that language. Instead of studying the grammar first, instead of study all of the apparent rules of the language, you just engage with the language. And then you kind of unconsciously work out what makes it work and what's possible and not possible.
