When we do these effortful cognitive activities, we don't really break into a sweat like we do when we're physically exercising. When you have to push something that is very resistant to being pushed, it takes a huge amount of metabolic shift. We've got to pour more energy into the system to rev up the neurons. It's a different kind of effort than climbing the stairs.
