The Legacy of Residential School Survivors
The case before the Human Rights Tribunal is so important in just showing how the systems themselves have kept residential school survivors from ever getting justice. I mean, clearly the case has to go forward and hear whether the RCMP did a proper investigation. These are not residential school survivors. These are the day schools. But that's a bit of a loophole that a lot of people who suffered a lot of the same abuses that residential school survivors suffered but didn't find themselves entitled to the same recognition or compensation.
