The craziest project I ever worked on was where I got to use sports data to predict demand for beer and food so we were working with a very large restaurant chain. That was like that first time in my life where I felt that this data that I'm looking at is actually a little footprint of the entire human society. If you get your land certified as agricultural land you can save 10 to 50 thousand dollars in taxes it's tremendous but it's kind of a complex process. A really cool website called SkyFi will take satellite photos of an address next day then trace them back to their original location using GIS or JIS.
