The average man is an impossibility for woman, as depicted in the character study by laura marholm. The old matrimonial relation restricted woman to the function of a man's servant and the bearer of his children. And yet, we find many emancipated women who prefer marriage, with all its deficiencies, to the narrowness of an unmarried life. Until woman has learned to defy them all, to stand firmly on her own ground and to insist upon her own unrestricted freedom, she cannot call herself emancipated. These internal tyrants are sbusybodies, moral detectives, jailers of the human spirit. What will they say? They seemd to get along beautifully
