The texts discussed in this episode are all in Latin, and self-consciously so. Like Cicero before them, they comment on the task of bringing Greek culture into a new language. Macrobius and Marciana Scapella knew and used Varro, Cicero, Seneca, Avid, and Virgil. The one who seems to influence the Latin Platonists most was not a church father or even Platonists, but Porphyry.
