The Negative of Naming
King saul's desire to jab David with a lance is akin to something like i pinning an insect into a display case. He's trying to fix him and stop him from being that shifty character. And now in this image we see the negative of naming which, if we're not careful about naming, can utterly fix something. If you exercise too much control over a system, then you can actually cripple it into into immobility. You can kill it by piercing it.
